Bishop Johnston’s Mass & Dinner for Seminarians & Families
An annual event held in the week prior to Christmas at St. Thomas More Parish (Monday December 20, 2021), the Mass and Dinner draws together many of varied constituents on whom seminarians rely for their vocations – their parents and families, the Serra Clubs in the KC area, friends and special guests. Bishop Johnston celebrates Mass for nearly 300 people assembled in the Church and the group then moves to More Hall for a festive evening. The Serra Clubs give cash and other gifts to each seminarian as an appreciation for the hard work that has just been accomplished by finishing the fall semester of study. The evening is truly celebratory, as each seminarian has invited his parents and closest relatives to meet all other seminarian families together after a fine meal and congratulatory speeches. Smiles abound as the spirit moves the crowd to celebrate the special gift of every vocation.
