Fifth Grade Vocation Days

5th Grade Vocations Awareness Day

Held at St. Michael the Archangel High School in Lee’s Summit and at LeBlond High School in St. Joseph, this annual event encourages young people to think about a vocation to the priesthood or vowed religious life and pursue his or her thoughts more rigorously. Serra members serve as ministers of hospitality for the many support staff to get the busloads of 5th graders from all around the Diocese to the site and help guide and monitor students in breakout classroom sessions. The Bishop leads a special Mass and large gathering of all attending students. In classroom settings, students hear talks by numerous priests and nuns about their vocation journeys. Lunch is served and a concluding prayer and benediction ends the Day. The Vocations Office of the Diocese coordinates the day and works closely with Serra Clubs and Knights of Columbus to coordinate necessary volunteers to cover all aspects of the Day.
